THE ELECTION RESULTS ARE IN! (no, no, not that election! McKenna and Inslee are still going at it.)
THE THREE OUTSTANDING WINNERS of this year's Peninsula Daily News Halloween Costume Contest are listed below after being chosen by our online voters (and we do a much faster ballot count than the state of Washington):
First Prize — "Popcorn," by Shelby Winters of Port Angeles.
From Shelby: "This is my 6-week-old son Liam dressed as popcorn! My mom made the costume to fit around our front pack carrier, and it was perfect for keeping him warm!"
Second Prize — "Sith Lord," by Andrew Schultz of Sequim.
From Andrew: "This whole costume is made from scratch. I made everything you see. The lightsabers are built from PVC pipe. The chest armor is made from anti-fatigue mats. The gauntlets are also made from anti-fatigue mats, as well as the bicep armor, the thigh armor, the knee armor, the shin armor, the cod piece and the shoe armor. The mask is first made with paper mache, then with some fiberglass resin, and finally some bondo to add detail. The cloak is made out of velvet lined with satin. Thanks for viewing and I hope you liked it."
Third Prize — "Frankie Stein and Draculaura," by Jodie Thies of Port Angeles.
From Jodie: "Best Friends Forever . . . Draculaura & Frankie Stein from Monster High."
CONGRATULATIONS to our winners!
We'll be contacting you next week about your gifts from our contest's sponsors (our prizemeister, Sue Stoneman, had to go away on some family business. She'll be back Nov. 14.)
THANK YOU to all who participated in this contest. We can't wait to see your new costumes next year!
