The league title gives the Roughriders the Olympic League's top seed as well as a first-round bye in next week's district tournament.
The Riders finish the regular season Friday night with a road game against Olympic. The Trojans beat North Kitsap on Tuesday to remain in a tie for second place in the Olympic League with Bremerton, which defeated Sequim 57-23.
Even with the loss, Sequim's postseason hopes were helped Tuesday when Klahowya surprised Kingston 56-32. The top five 2A teams in the Olympic League advance to the district playoffs, and the Wolves trail the Buccaneers by one game in standings. The two teams split the season series.
Sequim hosts Port Townsend on Thursday and Kingston hosts Bremerton on Friday.
Port Townsend has already clinched a spot in a 1A pigtail game, which the Redskins will host Saturday at 7 p.m. They will face the Nisqually League's fourth-place team.
In boys basketball, Port Townsend sealed its fate and Sequim kept pace for a share of the Olympic League title.
The Redskins held off Port Angeles 48-42 Tuesday night to secure the seventh seed in the Olympic League and a 1A pigtail game with the fourth-place team in the Nisqually League, which they will host Saturday at 5:15 p.m.
Meanwhile, Sequim went on the road and beat Bremerton 65-56 to remain in a tie for first place in the Olympic League with Olympic, which beat North Kitsap 70-64.
The Wolves, ranked ninth in The Associated Press 2A poll, play at Port Townsend on Thursday night at the Trojans are at Port Angeles on Friday. If the two teams remain tied after those games, they will play a tiebreaker game, possibly next Monday at North Kitsap High School.
