The auction runs until 2 p.m. this coming Friday.
Each participating Port Angeles downtown business is advertising its donated auction item in a window or entrance door, with the item and bid sheet inside.
Winning bidders will be contacted by phone by a Red Cross representative who will be at the downtown Conrad Dyar Memorial Fountain between 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Friday to collect the money and issue receipts so the merchandise can be picked up from the businesses.
The silent auction is sponsored by the Port Angeles Downtown Association.
The association held similar auctions for victims of the great 2004 tsunami in south Asia, Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
Items up for bid include gift certificates, clothes, gift items, Port Angeles Symphony tickets and a certificate for a free quarter-page advertisement in the Peninsula Daily News.
Almost 30 businesses are participating.
For a complete list of businesses donating items and gifts available for bid, visit the PADA website, www.portangelesdowntown.com.
