The National Weather Service says precipitation will continue through Wednesday night/early Thursday morning with strong winds.
With heavy snow expected in the mountains, the Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the Olympics and central and north Cascades where 2 to 3 feet of new snow are possible.
Forecasters say Eastern Washington is in for the same mix of rain, wind and mountain snow.
The Clallam County Sheriff's Office issued this warning this afternoon:
"A vigorous storm system will bring strong winds and locally heavy rain to Western Washington tonight through Thursday morning.
"Heavy rain at times of 1 inch to 2 inches, wind gusts of 35 mph, ocean swells of 15 feet to 20 feet, snow in the high elevations."
Spring officially arrives at 4:02 a.m. our time on Wednesday.
