LETTER: Here’s to Kilmer, Murray for keeping Wild Olympics legislation alive

I was pleased to read that U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer and U.S. Sen. Patty Murray have re-introduced the Wild Olympics legislation (“Wild Olympics Legislation Is Reintroduced,” March 6 Peninsula Daily News).

This is important, balanced and reasonable legislation to protect our watershed.

The current atmosphere in Washington, D.C., does not lend itself to balanced and reasonable legislation, particularly when it comes to environmental restoration and protection.

I admire Rep. Kilmer and Sen. Murray for having the courage to reintroduce this legislation in the current setting.

It was not a foolish thing to do.

Remember how many times legislation had to be introduced and how many campaigns it took for women to obtain the vote.

We must keep working to protect our watershed.

Margaret Maxwell,
