Port Angeles police identify man found dead in water at Boat Haven

Officers hope to identify body today

PORT ANGELES — Police have identified Christopher W. Dwyer as the man whose body was found floating Wednesday in the waters of East Boat Haven off Marine Drive.

Port Angeles Police Sgt. Kevin Miller said Dwyer, who appeared to be in his late 30s, also went by the alias of Jason Green.

“I have no idea why he had an alias,” Miller said.

Miller did not have further information on Dwyer’s home address, background or the alias.

His death remains under investigation, Miller said.

An autopsy will be conducted today on Dwyer.

His body did not have signs of trauma or show any indication that, for example, he hit his head on a rock before going into the water.

“We have nothing that we have seen that leads us to any of that,” Miller said.

Dwyer’s identity was confirmed by his father, Miller said.

“Other family needs to be notified, he added.

Miller said a person at the Boat Haven reported seeing Dwyer’s fully clothed body floating near a dock at the Boat Haven about 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Dwyer was not carrying a wallet, Miller said.
