PORT ANGELES — Clallam Conservation District will sponsor two free workshops on pasture renovation and management in September.
On Sept. 23 the district will sponsor a tour of Bent Gate Farms from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The tour will showcase the intensive multi-species rotational grazing system used at the farm’s grass-fed beef, lamb, goat and pork operation in Agnew.
The address for the tour will be provided on registration.
Participants will learn about Bent Gate’s grazing system, soil moisture monitoring, reseeding techniques and seasonal management to allow pastures to recover during the winter months.
A workshop on autumn pasture management will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 25 at Coastal Farm and Ranch, 990 E. Washington St., Sequim.
Participants will get tips on managing pastures to boost forage production, including seasonal pasture management, rotational grazing, fertilizing, liming and over-seeding.
Due to space limitations, pre-registration is required by contacting the district at 360-775-3747, ext. 5 or online at www.clallamcd.org/workshops.
