SEQUIM — A Sequim store will give away free life jackets on Saturday.
Coastal in Sequim will give away 300 free life jackets for children up to 12 years of age, store officials announced.
The drive-through giveaway will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday in the store’s parking lot in Bell Creek Plaza at 990 E. Washington St. It will be first-come, first-served.
“Water safety is top of mind for all of us here at Coastal,” Coastal CEO Lori McKinnon said in a press release.
“Some of our employees have shared with me over the years their personal experiences with family members drowning in lakes and rivers, when they believe simply wearing a life jacket could have made all the difference.
The company, which operates stores in Washington and Oregon, is giving away 6,000 life jackets to children in the communities they serve.
“We hope that we can help make a difference when it comes to families coming home safe after a day of playing in the water,” McKinnon said.
