SEQUIM — Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies arrested a man in Sequim after he had barricaded himself inside a recreational vehicle on Applegate Lane.

Caden Jackson, 22, was booked into the Clallam County Jail on Monday night following negotiations with a Clallam County Sheriff’s deputy and the deployment of the county’s newly obtained armored rescue vehicle.

Jackson was being held Tuesday in lieu of $280,000 bond and was being investigated for second-degree assault-domestic violence, fourth-degree assault-domestic violence, felony harassment, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, attempting to elude a police vehicle and reckless endangerment, the sheriff’s office stated in a press release.

Jackson also had outstanding felony warrants, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies initially were dispatched to the 100 block of Slab Camp Road in Sequim about 3:30 p.m. and discovered a green Ford SUV in some weeds with the rear window broken out, the sheriff’s office said. A woman associated with the vehicle told deputies she was assaulted while driving the vehicle and identified Jackson.

The woman told deputies Jackson had friends who lived on Village Lane off Carlsborg Road and that he was last seen with a large long-bladed knife, the sheriff’s office said.

Sequim Police officers and Clallam County deputies attempted to locate Jackson near Carlsborg Road and noted a blue Ford Mustang arriving at the residence. After a short time, the Mustang left the area, the sheriff’s office said.

Law enforcement officers from Sequim and Port Angeles police departments joined Clallam County deputies and contacted the property owner, who said she had video footage of a man fitting Jackson’s description getting into the trunk of the Mustang before it drove away, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies obtained the plate number, confirmed the registered owner lived on Applegate Lane and set up a containment plan for the residence. Once there, they confirmed Jackson was inside an RV on the property and a negotiator eventually established contact with him, the sheriff’s office said.

Jackson said he had a crossbow and said he would shoot anyone who entered the RV. Less-lethal options were deployed and the scene was secured by officers from the three law enforcement agencies, the sheriff’s office said.

While the negotiator continued to talk with Jackson, the Clallam County and Jefferson County Crisis Response Team was activated and brought Clallam County’s IAG Sentinel, the first deployment of the armored vehicle since it was delivered, the sheriff’s office said.

Jackson surrendered shortly after the Crisis Response Team arrived and was taken into custody without incident, the sheriff’s office said.
