Forks man arrested for investigation of burglary

PORT ANGELES — A tip led Clallam County sheriff’s deputies to arrest a Forks man suspected of burglary, theft and other crimes.

Spencer T. Lindberg was arrested at a Forks residence Thursday for investigation of an alleged burglary and vehicle prowl that occurred just outside of Forks in October, deputies said.

Lindberg, 22, also is under investigation for a vehicle prowl and theft that occurred near Forks earlier this month, deputies said.

“These cases were solved with tips received from the public and follow-up investigations involving the Forks Police Department and the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office,” deputies said in a Friday statement.

“There have been a large number of burglaries and thefts in the Forks area as of late. If anyone has information regarding these thefts and burglaries please contact your local law enforcement.”

Sheriff’s deputies were tipped Thursday that Lindberg was staying at a Forks residence. Forks police, the State Patrol and La Push wildlife officers accompanied deputies to the residence, where Lindberg was arrested without incident, the Sheriff’s Office said.

After his arrest, Lindberg “admitted to several vehicle prowl thefts and a burglary,” deputy Gene Hoagland wrote in the arrest narrative.

Superior Court Judge Brian Coughenour on Friday granted defense attorney Harry Gasnick’s request to release Lindberg on his personal recognizance.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney James Kennedy had requested a $2,500 bail for Lindberg.

Lindberg was ordered to reappear in court on Tuesday, when the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office will consider filing formal charges.
