PORT ANGELES — A Sequim man has pleaded not guilty to molesting a girl at his residence about two years ago.
Brian Russell Dilley, 37, is charged with one count of first-degree child molestation for a crime he allegedly committed sometime between July 2016 and May 2017.
A one-week trial is scheduled to begin Nov. 5 in Clallam County Superior Court.
The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said the child, now 7, disclosed the alleged sexual abuse to Renton police Aug. 23, leading to Dilley’s arrest.
Deputies obtained a search warrant to locate a virtual reality gaming head set and a red couch in Dilley’s apartment that the child had described to investigators, according to the affidavit for probable cause.
Dilley was arrested without incident Aug. 31, court papers said.
The girl was either 4 and 5 when the alleged crime occurred, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the girl first reported the crime to her mother in June 2017.
Dilley is being held in the Clallam County jail on $50,000 bail. He is ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim.
First-degree child molestation is punishable by a maximum of life in prison and a $50,000 fine.
A pre-trial status conference is scheduled for Oct. 12.
