OPNET reports seizure of 8.8 pounds of meth

Sequim man in custody; more arrests expected

SEQUIM — A 60-year-old man is in custody for investigation of multiple drug and gun charges after Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team detectives said they seized 8.8 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $160,00, 9.4 grams of heroin and firearms from his Sequim residence.

“This may be the largest single seizure of meth that we’ve ever had. Certainly in recent history. I can’t remember any larger,” said OPNET Team Commander Brian King, who is the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office’s chief criminal deputy.

Daniel H. Bresler was being held in the Clallam County jail on $51,000 bail on Saturday after his arrest Thursday.

King said the investigation is continuing and that OPNET officers believe Bresler was part of a drug trafficking organization.

“We do anticipate other arrests,” King said.

Bresler was booked for investigation of two counts of delivery of a controlled substance (heroin), delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a designated school bus stop, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (methamphetamine and heroin), possession of a controlled substance (oxycodone, Xanax and Suboxone) and five counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.

OPNET officers said they found at his residence 8.82 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $160,000, 9.4 grams of heroin with an estimated value of $940, oxycodone pills, Xanax pills and Suboxone strips as well as five long guns and a ballistic rifle plate carrier with armored plates inside.

Bresler is a convicted felon and as a result, is prohibited from possessing firearms or body armor, according to OPNET. No details were available as of Saturday about his record.

King said that OPNET used a confidential informant to buy a total of 12.4 grams of heroin on two different occasions from Bresler.

OPNET detectives — along with other local, federal and state law enforcement and a narcotic detection K-9 unit from the Suquamish Police Department — served a search warrant on Breseler’s residence in the 100 block of Deerhaven Drive in Sequim. Bresler was taken into custody without incident and no other persons were present at the residence, King said.

OPNET was assisted by Suquamish Police Department Officer Jason Olsen and his partner, Narcotic Detection K-9 Kira, who had worked with OPNET before in Kitsap County investigations.

“We became familiar with officer Olsen and his K9 through coordinating with Kitsap County,” King said.

Also involved in the case were the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, Port Angeles Police Department, Sequim Police Department, Port Townsend Police Department, State Patrol, the U.S. Border Patrol and federal Department of Homeland Security Investigations, King said.
