Port Angeles hotel robbed; police say suspect was wearing red, yellow contacts

PORT ANGLES — City police on Saturday were investigating an early-morning robbery at the Port Angeles Days Inn.

A man entered the main lobby of the hotel at 1510 E. Front St. when the clerk was away and tried to open a cash drawer before stepping into a back room, Police Cpl. Clay Rife said.

The man — described as wearing red- and yellow-colored contact lenses — demanded money from the clerk when the clerk returned to the back room.

The clerk gave the man all of the cash from the cash drawer — about $300 — before he fled, Rife said, adding that it wasn’t known which direction he had gone.

The robbery was reported at 2:01 a.m.

“During the incident, the suspect verbally threatened the clerk but no weapon had been displayed,” Rife said.

“The clerk was uninjured.”

The man was described as a white male about 5-feet-10-inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds with a scruffy face. He was wearing dark jeans, a dark hooded jacket and a black beanie.

Anyone with information is asked to phone Port Angeles police at 360-452-4545.
