Annual auction to raise funds for AAUW-Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — An array of new and gently used items and special experiences will be up for bid at AAUW Port Townsend’s annual Silent Auction on Saturday.

Auction proceeds will fund American Association of University Women scholarships and projects in local schools.

The auction will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Elks Lodge, 555 Otto St.

The public is welcome to browse and buy; only cash and checks will be accepted.

Themed tables will feature everything from mirrors and household items to Christmas decorations, jewelry and handcrafted purses.

Experiences up for bid will include a private screening at the Rose Theatre for up to 12 people, a tour of the Seattle Amazon campus for four people, two tickets to the Wearable Art Show, two tickets to Key City Public Theatre, a bird walk, massages, genealogy sessions and baked goods.

Local guitar duo Tony Petrillo and Trevor Hanson, accompanied by George Radebaugh on accordion, will provide musical entertainment ranging from jazz and Calypso to Latin and novelty tunes.

AAUW Port Townsend and its affiliate, the University Women’s Foundation of Jefferson County, promote education and equity through scholarships, middle school career days, and elementary school projects in literacy and math.

In 2017, AAUW/UWF gave scholarships and awards totaling $55,000 to young women in East Jefferson County, and sent seven middle school girls to Tech Trek, a week-long science and math summer camp.
