Art league’s featured artist at receptions Wednesday

PORT LUDLOW — The Port Ludlow Art League’s artist of the month will be on hand Wednesday at receptions at Sound Community Bank and at the league’s gallery adjacent to the bank.

Brenda Barceló will be available to the public Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the lobby of the bank and from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the gallery.

Her work with be on view through this month along with the creations of the league’s jeweler of the month, Nancy Aikman.

Barceló’s drawings have focused on portraits. Recently, she has been fascinated by the world of dance. To capture shapes, lights and shadows, she has put aside her charcoal and graphite instruments and delved into silhouette painting using acrylics on black canvas.

Aikman uses beads and cabochons in her jewelry. She bezels the cabochons with glass and semi-precious stones, using only natural elements — nothing dyed or synthetic.

The bank and gallery are located at the corner of Oak Bay Road and Osprey Ridge Drive in Port Ludlow. The gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m.
