PORT ANGELES — John Kopp will present “From Oars to Engines: The Rescue Boat Crews of the U.S. Life-Saving Service and U.S. Coast Guard” at two branches of the North Olympic Library System this week.
Kopp will speak at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Sequim Branch Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim and again at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Raymond Carver room at the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
Kopp, a former member of the U.S. Coast Guard’s Cape Disappointment rescue boat crew, will share both historical details and personal insights.
Kopp will answer questions after his presentation and will be available to sign copies of his book, “CG 41332: Surfmen, the Cape Disappointment Motor Lifeboat School, and the Forgotten Tragedy that Transformed U.S.
Coast Guard Boat Operations,” which will be available for purchase.
