Bike2Work Week offers specials, gatherings in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — A week of activities is planned throughout Port Angeles beginning Monday as the inaugural Bike2Work Week.

The Port Angeles and Clallam County Bicycle Advisory Committee presents Bike2Work Week to honor National Bike Month.

Festivities will range from bike film screenings at a local art studio and sports bar to community breakfast bike rides to a post-work 10-mile ride topped off with libations.

Local bike shops, coffee shops, bars and restaurants will offer special discounts and free bike safety checks during the week for all cyclists.

The week will culminate with a bike ride to the Port Angeles Farmers Market in downtown and a bike mob finale.

Here are some of the planned bike events:

 Monday — Breakfast Boost: Olympic Medical Center, new building, free coffee and bakery item, 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.; After-Work Aperitif: H2O Waterfront Bistro offering mini-Shipwreck Bloody Marys, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; bicycle registration, family bike ride and free helmets for children, Red Lion Hotel and Waterfront Hotel, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

 Tuesday — Breakfast Boost: Twenty percent off all coffees at Bella Rosa and free bike safety checks at the Bike Garage, 7 a.m. to noon; After-Work Aperitif: It’s a surprise at Next Door Gastropub, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Bike Trivia Night at Bar N9ne, 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

 Wednesday — Breakfast Boost: Coffee and treats at Empossible Eden Cafe, 6 a.m. to noon; community bike ride, meet at the waterfront esplanade, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; after-bike ride refreshments and specials at Barhop Brewing, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

 Thursday — Breakfast Boost: Free lattes at Necessities and Temptations from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.; After-Work Aperitif: New Moon Craft Tavern, beer specials and homemade mac and cheese, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; movie night “Premium Rush” at Fanaticus Sports Bar &Grill, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

 Friday — Breakfast Boost: A surprise at First Street Haven, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.; After-Work Aperitif: Beer specials on the Metta Room’s back deck, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; wrap-up party, raffles and movie “American Flyer” at Studio Bob, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

 Saturday — Bike Mob Gathering and Ride at the Port Angeles Farmers Market, noon to 2 p.m., with a group photo at about 12:30 p.m.
