Bill Evans dance concerts set this month

PORT TOWNSEND — Bill Evans will present dance concerts at 7 p.m. Sunday, Monday and July 21.

The first two performances will be at the USO Hall at Fort Worden, 200 Battery Way, and the July 21 performance will be at JFK Hall at Fort Worden.

All three performances are pay what you can.

The July 14 concert will include seven works by artists from six different states and will feature Patrick Suzeau, a performer, choreographer and professor emeritus at Kansas University.

The July 15 show will include seven different works created and performed by artists from six different states and one Canadian province and will feature Kathy Diehl, a former dancer in the Bill Evans Dance Company in New York who now heads the dance program at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colo.

The July 21 performance will showcase eight choreographers, including Evans, and will include excerpts from “City of Dreams” performed by Lauren Ehnebuske, Ashley A. Friend, Don Halquist, Anna Hansen, Camille Hildebrandt, Rae Kala and Stephanie Sanders.

Evans also will facilitate a site-specific work at Memory’s Vault in the Fort Worden bunkers from 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. July 16. This performance is in memory of Suzie Lundgren, a longtime member of the Bill Evans dance family who died in January.
