QUILCENE — The Carpe Diem String Quartet will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Concerts in the Barn, 7360 Center Road in Quilcene.
In addition to the weekend performances, there will be an open rehearsal at 2 p.m. Thursday.
The open rehearsals are a new feature at the barn this year, allowing a less-formal performance as well as a weekday listening option.
The concerts are free, but attendees are required to reserve seats at www. ticketstripe.com/event-list/concerts-in-the-barn.
The quartet is composed of Sam Weiser, violin; Marisa Ishikawa, violin; Korine Fujiwara, viola; and Ariana Nelson, cello.
They will perform “La Oración del Torero” (Spanish for “The Bullfighter’s Prayer”), Op.34, by Joaquín Turina; “Cherry Blossom” and “Peasebottom” from Korine Fujiwara’s Montana Suite; and Franz Schubert’s String Quartet No. 15 in G Major, D. 887.
Patrons have the option of sitting inside on comfortable chairs, in the loft or listening outside on the lawn.
Concertgoers are encouraged to arrive as early as noon to enjoy a picnic lunch or stroll through the grounds.
Kaimerata Concerts will complete this year’s Concerts in the Barn series on Aug. 3-4.
