Circus, movie set in Quilcene

QUILCENE — A live circus performance by UP UP UP, Inc., will be followed by a family-friendly movie under the stars at Worthington Park on Saturday.

The evening will be from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. The circus, in Quilcene for its third year, is by donation and the free movie, popcorn and parking are all courtesy of the host, the Quilcene Historical Museum.

The UP UP UP Inc., circus troupe is a state and federal 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose goal is to do shows for outdoor gatherings and events, tribal community centers, small farms, refugee support groups, children’s grief camps, nursing homes and women’s shelters.

The circus has a portable stage truck, a baby grand piano for live music, and has mounted a 30-foot, hand-cranked crane on the truck to serve as an aerial rigging point and point of interest.

The Movie Under the Stars will be “Big Hero 6,” a 2014 U.S. computer-animated superhero film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. It is the first Disney animated film to feature Marvel Comics characters.

It tells the story of Hiro Hamada, a young robotics prodigy, and Baymax, his late-brother Tadashi’s healthcare-provider robot, who form a superhero team to combat a masked villain.
