Computer science set for Studium session

PORT ANGELES — Steve Bearman and Eric Waterkotte, Peninsula College computer science instructors, will present “Seven Amazing Secrets of Computer Science That You Need to Know Now!” on Thursday.

The industry and academic experts will speak at the Studium Generale session that begins at 12:35 p.m. in the college’s Little Theater on the Port Angeles campus at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

The event is free and open to the public and will be live-streamed through Zoom at https://pencol-edu.zoom.us/j/82308557946. The meeting ID is 823 0855 794.

They will explore such questions as:

• What is computer science?

• How does it affect your daily life?

• How will it impact your future?

• What is the difference between coding and programming?

• How are information technology, cybersecurity and computer science related?

• What opportunities exist for our community?

• How can we mitigate biases in AI?

• How can we avoid an AI apocalypse?
