Deadline in September for fiber arts entries

SEQUIM — The deadline is Sept. 16 for artwork for the 18th annual North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival fiber arts exhibition “Spinning Sewn Stories – Promulgate, Piece and Ply” at the Sequim Museum & Arts.

“Spinning Sewn Stories – Promulgate, Piece and Ply” will be a juried fiber arts exhibition from Oct. 6 to Nov. 25 at the museum at 544 N. Sequim Ave., in Sequim. It is a component of the 18th annual North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival starting Oct. 6-8 at the museum.

The festival will include the First Friday Art Walk Sequim from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 6 with fiber arts demonstrations. It also will include a Fiber Arts Market from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 7 with an opening reception from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The full prospectus and entry form are at FiberArtsFestival.org. Each artist can enter a maximum of two entries. $15 fee is charged each artist.

All formats of fiber art will be considered, including wall-hung, free-standing or pedestal mounted. Entries must be original and must not be copied, derivatives or based on other copyrighted or published work. All skill levels are welcome.

“These crafty and cunning creations tempt fate and fortune to be made and demonstrate how the artist will not be deter and knows no limits,” said Renne Emiko Brock, North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival director.

“Fiber artworks of reinforced tales and yarns are spun from momentous consequences, family ties, and patched experiences,” Brock said. “The choices artists make, the colors, patterns, topics, and materials, are part of the destiny they design for themselves while outwardly influencing hearts and minds asserting their unique artistic message and championing imaginative expression.”

The North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival celebrates its 18th year which always starts the first full weekend in October in Sequim and various events and locations throughout autumn.
