PORT ANGELES — These won’t be your ordinary dining room chairs.
All 41 chairs to be auctioned off at Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County’s CHAIR-ity final reception and auction are unique artistic works born out of the theme “Always Room for One More.”
“Everybody’s interpretation is different,” said Michelle Ostroot, administrative assistant for Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County.
The free event will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday at Olympic Cellars Winery, 255140 U.S. Highway 101.
The colorful, painted chairs might add a bit more pizzazz to your furniture collection.
Ostroot, for one, has her eyes set on one spectacular seat.
“As soon as I saw it, I thought, ‘I have to have that one,’ ” she said, laughing.
She recalled a few of the chair designs that stood out to her in the auction planning process.
One person took “Always Room for One More” to mean “room for one more story,” so the artist built a Dr. Seuss-themed chair and matching stool, too.
Another group of artists deconstructed the chair, and each decorated his or her own piece without consulting the others. Then, they reassembled all the parts.
Chairs also will be awarded during the reception.
The auction serves a vital role in the organization’s fundraising efforts as one of four to five annual benefit events, Ostroot said.
