‘Elf The Musical Jr.’ enters its final weekend on stage

PORT ANGELES — “Elf the Musical Jr.” continues during its final weekend.

The young cast of 25 student actors ages 7 to 18 from Sequim and Port Angeles has a fresh take on the story of an orphan raised by elves.

Four more shows are planned at the Port Angeles Community Playhouse, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd., tonight and Saturday night at 7:30, and at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased in advance at www.ghostlight-productions.com or at the door.

The play directed by Danielle Lorentzen adapts a 2003 movie starring Will Ferrell, and features songs by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin based on a book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin.

Buddy the Elf is played by 17-year-old Ethan Cameron.

Cameron said he enjoys performing the character’s enthusiasm for making people happier.

This is Cameron’s second time on stage, he said.

Lorentzen takes the directing reigns as a solo director for the first time with this show, a presentation of Ghostlight Productions’ Young Thespians.

“Elf the Musical Jr.” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
