PORT ANGELES — Storytelling through a camera lens and making honest images are two of the topics of a photography workshop at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center on Saturday.
Nationally known photographer Jessica Holleque, whose photo exhibition “Mothers & Makers” opens at the center that same day, will lead the workshop from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
“Together we will explore ways to work from an empathetic lens [and] empower our subjects,” Holleque wrote in her invitation.
“The day will include group discussions, self-portraiture exercise and an opportunity to use the tools we’ve learned in a live photo session.”
The cost of the workshop, which is limited to 12 participants, is $75.
The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, a nonprofit, public gallery with an outdoor art park surrounding it, is located at 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
Holleque’s “Mothers & Makers” show celebrates women across the United States who are both artists and moms. The exhibition opens with a free, public reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and stays on display through April 21. The fine arts center is open Thursdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
