Fiber arts on view at yarn shop

PORT ANGELES — The Woven Wilds fiber art show at Cabled Fiber & Yarn is set for the Second Saturday Art Walk in Port Angeles.

The free show will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the shop at 125 W. First St.

Examples of textile artist Katie Blizzard of The Woven Wilds will be on display as well as a demonstration of her weaving technique. The exhibit will feature wall hangings including examples from her living walls.

Blizzard, who admits to a plant obsession, said that one day she was looking at a blank spot on her wall and imaged wall hangings. That grew into a business that a stay-at-home mom could embrace.

“My inspiration comes from nature, textures and landscapes,” she said. “One of my favorite weavings simulates wood grain, and another was inspired by the geography of Port Angeles.”
