Free outdoor concerts to offer dance music across Peninsula

Get out your sunglasses, your sunscreen and your dancin’ shoes. It’s time to boogie.

Free outdoor concerts are planned in Sequim on Tuesday, Port Angeles on Wednesday and Port Townsend on Thursday.

The Lukas Rose Quartet will play country with swing at Sequim’s Music in the Park series from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the James Center for the Performing Arts at Carrie Blake Park, 350 N. Blake Ave.

On Wednesday, Fox & Bones, a folk pop duo with a hint of soul, will perform at the Port Angeles Concerts on the Pier, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on City Pier at Lincoln Street and Railroad Avenues.

On Thursday, Grace Love of Seattle will perform at Port Townsend’s Concerts on the Dock, with seating beginning at 4:30 p.m. in Pope Marine Park.

Here is more information on the free summertime shows:

Music in the Park

Sequim’s Music in the Park will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each Tuesday through Aug. 29.

Attendees are encouraged to cozy up with chairs, blankets and picnic dinners at the James Center for the Performing Arts.

The Aug. 8 show will not feature any one performer; many voices are encouraged to participate in Sequim’s annual karaoke night. It is back this year by popular demand, the city said.

The rest of the summer’s lineup, which can be found at www.sequimwa.gov, is:

• July 25 — Craig Buhler Quartet; jazz.

• Aug. 1 — Blue Rhinos; dance blues infused with Latin and funk.

• Aug. 8 — Annual Karaoke Night.

• Aug. 15 — Caribe Steel Band; steel drum band.

• Aug. 22 — Navy Band of the Northwest; popular music.

• Aug. 29 — Stardust Big Band; Big Band era music.

Concerts on the Pier

Concerts on the Pier will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Wednesday through Sept. 20.

Concerts promise a low-key, family-friendly atmosphere.

Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs to the informal, family-friendly performances.

No smoking is permitted on City Pier.

Should wind or rain dare to make an appearance, concerts will be relocated to the covered Gateway Plaza one block away.

Vendors, including the Hot Dog Cafe, will roll in for the occasion — plus, this year will introduce a beer garden.

The rest of the summer lineup, which can be found at www.portangeles.org, is:

• July 26 — The Olson Bros Band; pop country.

• Aug. 2 — Black Diamond Junction; classic rock and country.

• Aug. 9 — Blue Rhinos; blues.

• Aug. 16 — Testify; classic rock, blues and Southern rock.

• Aug. 23 — Black Door Alley; folk rock.

• Aug. 30 — Geoffrey Castle; violin virtuoso.

• Sept. 6 — The Olympic Express; big-band sound.

• Sept. 13 — Black Rock; classic rock.

• Sept. 20 — Ranger & the “Re-Arrangers”; Gypsy jazz and swing.

Concerts on the Dock

Main Street’s Concerts on the Dock are for all ages.

Like Port Angeles’ Concerts on the Pier, Pope Marine Plaza features a serene waterfront setting. Local vendors and a beer, wine and cider garden will provide food and drink for the occasion.

The concerts are sponsored by Homer Smith Insurance, Kitsap Credit Union, Uptown Pub & Grill, Windermere Real Estate, LaughinGnome Pottery, KPTZ 91.9 FM, The Peninsula Daily News, and the City of Port Townsend.

The rest of the summer lineup, which can be found at ptmainstreet.org/ concerts-on-the-dock, is:

• July 27 – Ranger & the “Re-Arrangers”; Gypsy jazz and swing.

• Aug. 3 – Uncle Funk & the Dope 6; party/dance music.

• Aug. 10 – Rooster Crow; alt-country rock.

• Aug. 17 – Solvents & Famous Lucy; folk and Western soul.

• Aug. 24 – The High Council; “music for the head.”

• Aug. 31 – Kevin Mason and the PT All Stars.
