PORT ANGELES — Special Agent Laura Marroquin will discuss human trafficking on Thursday during Studium Generale presented by the International Soroptimist Clubs of Clallam County and Peninsula College.

Marroquin is currently assigned to the Assistant Special Agent in Charge in the Blaine office in the Human Trafficking and Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. She began working in Homeland Security Investigations in 2009 and worked in a multitude of investigations involving human trafficking and human smuggling, child exploitation, terrorism investigations, narcotics smuggling, counterproliferation, money laundering and intellectual property rights violations.
Prior to her transfer to the human trafficking and Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Marroquin was assigned to conduct financial investigations. She also is a certified undercover agent.
In 2004, Marroquin received a bachelor of science degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She’s also a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) in Glynco, Ga., and Artesia, N.M.
At FLETC, she was trained in criminal investigative techniques, narcotics identification and interdiction, smuggling detection, investigating individuals and transnational criminal organizations involved in trafficking illegal goods, and investigating financial crimes, such as fraud and money laundering.
