PORT TOWNSEND — Behind-the-scenes tours, hands-on crafts and other activities are part of the open house this Saturday at the Jefferson County Historical Society Research Center.
Admission is free to the event from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the center, 13692 Airport Cutoff Road.
During the open house, historical society staff will be on hand to answer questions about the Research Center, which is newly renovated.
Upgrades are nearly finished to its collection storage spaces, insulation and ventilation system — all of which are critical to good long-term care of its elderly objects, photographs, artwork and archives, organizers said.
The historical society also operates the downtown Jefferson Museum of Art & History, 540 Water St., which is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays.
