PORT TOWNSEND — The Kiwanis Club of Port Townsend will present its 2019 Stars of Tomorrow Show at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The show will be at Port Townsend High School, 1500 Van Ness St.
Tickets will be available at the door for $7 per person, $5 for students.
The show includes students of all ages — kindergarten through 12th grade — from all public and private schools throughout East Jefferson County, as well as home-schooled students.
This is the 32nd year for the Kiwanis Stars of Tomorrow production.
Organizers said it will be dedicated to Dan Huntingford, a 45-year Kiwanis member who died recently.
Huntingford created and printed the Stars posters and programs for the past 31 years.
The show will open with the Swan School Percussion Group, followed by 22 acts in all types of performing arts, including musical instruments, vocal, dance and theater with solo, duet, trio and small group performers.
There are three divisions or age groups: presentation division, which is non-competitive, for elementary school students in kindergarten through sixth grade; junior division for seventh through ninth grades; and senior division for 10th through 12th grades.
The junior and senior divisions will compete for scholarships to further their studies, as well as special awards from sponsors.
This year, there will also be a band performing in the Senior Division.
This year’s show also includes entertainment by Olympic Thunder Cheer group and two Leslie Lewis youth choir groups, the Port Townsend Youth Chorus and Port Townsend Vocal Ensemble.
Local judges have volunteered their time again this year to select the division winners and awards for several other performance opportunities for the participants.
Proceeds fund the scholarships for winning performers and other Kiwanis youth programs.
Concessions will be available during intermission, provided by the Chimacum Band Boosters to benefit their travel.
