Legend of Shakti, Shiva to be performed

PORT TOWNSEND — The Legend of Shakti and Shiva will be performed at the Unity Spiritual Enrichment Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Doors will open at 7 p.m. at the center at 3918 San Juan Ave.

Admission is a suggested donation of $20.

The show is a mythic clown drama and live Kirtan woven into 108 minutes of theater.

Shakti and Shiva

The performance tells the ancient tale of the Descent of the Divine Mother (Shakti) and her search for her Divine Lover (Shiva) “and how she brings consciousness, life and love onto the planet,” organizers said in a press release.

According to the press release, “It is epic poetry, irreverent comedy, ecstatic call and response singing and an education on yoga — on the inner meaning of the gods and the demons, and the role devotion (bhakti) has on enlightening our darkest recesses.”
