Marine science center plans New Year’s Eve cruise

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Marine Science Center plans a cruise aboard one of Puget Sound Express’ whale-watching boats from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Located at Puget Sound Express offices, 227 Jackson St., the cruise will depart from the dock opposite the offices at the east end of Water Street.

If the weather is calm, the cruise will go to Protection Island, a National Wildlife Refuge located at the mouth of Discovery Bay.

If the weather is rough it will head south toward Port Ludlow to remain in protected waters.

Marine science center naturalist, Roger Risley, will be onboard to assist in wildlife spotting and interpretation, accompanied by informative Port Townsend Marine Science Center hosts.

For information about tickets and to reserve a spot on the cruise, visit www.pugetsoundexpress.com or phone 360-385-5288.
