SEQUIM — Master Gardener Bob Cain will discuss the soil preparation, planting timetables and variety selection to enhance your fall and winter vegetable garden at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The lecture will be in the Master Gardener Demonstration Garden, 2711 Woodcock Road.
This is part of the “Saturdays in the Garden” lecture series. Drivers are reminded that the Ward Road Bridge over the Dungeness River east of the garden is under construction so they should plan to travel from the west from Cays Road.
Cain said now is the best time to plant a fall vegetable garden to get plants to an appropriate size before the cold weather sets in.
Participants will be instructed in how to calculate the correct planting times for winter and fall vegetables.
Cain, a Master Gardener since 2009, has 40 years of experience growing vegetables in Scotland, Ireland, Colorado and Washington.
He writes a monthly article on plant disease for the Clallam County Master Gardener newsletter.
