Montreal-based trio to play at Eaglemount Cidery

PORT TOWNSEND — Les Arrivants will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the Palindrome at Eaglemount Cidery, 1893 S. Jacob Miller Road.

Tickets are $30 per person at www.ticketstorm.com/e/29961/t/ or $35 at the door.

The Montreal-based trio consists of Israeli-born Amichai Ben Shalev, playing the bandoneon, a type of concertina; Jordanian Abdul-Wahab Kayyali, playing the oud, a short-necked, pear-shaped fretless instrument similar to a lute; and Iranian-born percussionist Hamin Honari.

The band members merge their individual backgrounds in Arabic classical, Argentine tango and Persian classical music and combine them with the international flavor of their new home in Montreal.

The group formed during the COVID-19 lockdown, and its repertoire reflects the highs and lows of their resettlement experiences and the uncertainties of the pandemic.
