PORT ANGELES — Nalini Nadkarni will present “From Roots to Canopy” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Nadkarni’s presentation will be part of the National Geographic Live series at Field Arts & Events Hall, 201 W. Front St., Port Angeles.
Tickets are $25 to $45 per person at www.fieldhallevents.org. Twenty percent of ticket proceeds will benefit NatureBridge to support its mission to connect young people to the wonder and science of the natural world.
Nadkarni, a tree canopy ecologist, will discuss the wildlife and science in the hidden worlds suspended above our heads in the rainforest.
Nadkarni is a National Geographic Explorer-at-Large, the organization’s highest distinction, and a professor at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She has pioneered canopy access techniques to study the plants, animals and microbes that live in the treetops, and her work has cast new insights on the importance of canopy plants in ecosystem processes and the effects of human activities on forest diversity and function.
