PORT TOWNSEND — The New Old Time Chautauqua will present a benefit show for the Hands Across the Border Project at the Palindrome, 1893 S. Jacob Miller Road, at 7:30 tonight.

Admission at the door will be $20 for adults and $12 for children 12 and younger.

Advance tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger. They can be purchased online at www.brownpapertickets.com.

The border project serves as an informational platform to educate those interested in Native American history not contained in American history books.

During the event, members of Blackfoot Confederacy — composed of Blackfeet, Piikani, Kainai and Siksika nations — will present forums and speak about the Doctrine of Discovery and border and treaty issues, as well as intergenerational trauma.

Chautauqua will feature circus skills, dance, music, clowning and arts and crafts workshops.

There will also be talent shows and parades featuring Chautauqua’s band, the Fighting Instruments of Karma Marching Band/Orchestra, joined by members of the Chimacum High School band, as well as the Unexpected Brass Band.

The border project will tour from Tuesday through Sunday, June 25, to the Blackfeet Nation in Browning, Mont., and Piikani nation in Alberta, Canada.

Funds generated from the performance will benefit the traveling costs of the the border project, as well as its community projects.
