Northwest Women’s Chorale to perform Monday

PORT ANGELES — The Northwest Women’s Chorale will present a fall concert, “Gather Together,” at 7 p.m. Monday.

The performance at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Lopez Ave., Port Angeles, will celebrate “community and the gifts we all bring to the table,” organizers said in a press release.

A pre-concert chat is planned at 6:45 p.m. for this concert with comments about the music being presented.

This is the first venture into a pre-Thanksgiving concert, organizers said, adding that previous concerts have been later in the year with a Christmas/winter theme.

Admission is a suggested donation of $15 at the door. More information can be found at http://www.nwwomenschorale.org/ or by emailing: info@nwwomens chorale.org.

The chorale began rehearsals for this concert late this summer to learn the program that begins with a simple song, then added classics from its repertoire. A third section presents some of the variety in music for the group, followed by traditional and holiday-centric singalong.

“In the final set, we are thrilled to revisit three pieces from past concerts,” organizers said.

Two are from Sequim composer Linda Dowdell, arranged for the chorale group.

The Northwest Women’s Chorale (NWWC) has been singing harmony since its founding in 2007.

“It was pure glory. I don’t think I’ve ever heard you sing with such blending, power and emotion. You touched everyone in the audience,” one audience member remarked after a past concert, organizers said.

Kristin Quigley Brye, an adjunct professor of music at Peninsula College, is the collaborative pianist with the Northwest Women’s Chorale, owner of a private music studio, and music director at First United Methodist Church in Port Angeles.

The group has performed in Alaska, Port Angeles, Lynnwood, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Port Townsend, Chehalis and Forks. The 22 singers of NWWC come from areas west of Joyce to east of Sequim.

The Northwest Women’s Chorale is the resident chorale at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Angeles.

Joy A. Lingerfelt is the founding director of Northwest Women’s Chorale. With advanced music degrees from Southern Illinois University and Pacific Lutheran University, she is also a retired deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.

While living in Tennessee, she directed the Bartlett Community Chorus, founded the Cumberland Presbyterian Choral Society and sang with The Rhodes Mastersingers in Memphis.

Lingerfelt has performed concertos both as an organ soloist and piano soloist with the Port Angeles Chamber Orchestra and serves as the chorus master for the Port Angeles Symphony Chorus.
