Olympic Neighbors to host Second Porch Fest

PORT TOWNSEND — Olympic Neighbors will host its second annual Porch Fest fundraiser on Sunday, offering a day of live music and dancing at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

Porch Fest will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the fairgrounds at 4907 Landes St., Port Townsend. Tickets are $25. Children 12 and under get in free. They are available online at www.olympic neighbors.org/events/porch-fest-2023 or at the door.

Olympic Neighbors has set a goal of raising $35,000 this year and 100 percent of the proceeds go to supporting Olympic Neighbors’ programs that provide community housing and promote inclusion for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Bands performing at the event will be Lowire, Cosmiphonics, Abi Katz, Slowburn, Jere Canote & Bobbi Nikles, Sarah Sunrose and Shoestrings.

Activities will include a silent auction with items from 50 area businesses, face painting and a bounce house. A $1,000 cash raffle prize will be awarded.

Food from Planted and Chef Wyatt will be available for purchase as well as alcohol in a beer and wine garden.

Olympic Neighbors began providing supportive housing services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in early 2018.

It operates the only Adult Family Home for people with IDD in all of Jefferson County, organizers said. The home offers low-cost rent, assistance with food and utilities, and 24-hour staff support for residents to live productive lives in the local community. It is full and there is a wait list.

More than 500 people with IDD are estimated to live in Jefferson County, many living on fixed incomes and needing some amount of help with daily living tasks.

“As parents and other family caregivers age and can no longer care for their loved one, the need for local supportive housing support has become increasingly dire,” organizers said in a press release.
