Port Townsend studio tours this weekend offer glimpse into artists’ lives

PORT TOWNSEND — There’s something to be said about an artist’s workspace. The musings that never saw a gallery. The utensils scattered about or neatly shelved. An artist studio tour is like an invitation to the inner workings of an artist’s mind.

The 19th annual Art Port Townsend Studio Tour offers a free self-guided tour of 30 Port Townsend-area artists’ studios Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The long list includes Mike Biskup, Debi Breitbach-Glass, Carapace Arts, Corvidae Press, Diana Cronin, Kate Dwyer, David Eisenhour, Gate House Studio, Heather Cole Gatto, Brian Goodman, Elissa Greisz, Gail Hustedde, Chuck Iffland, Erica Iseminger, Jim Jacobson and LaughinGnome Pottery.

Also, Walter Massey, Elisabeth Mention, Arliss Newcomb, Erik Newquist, Mary O’Shaughnessy and Charlie Van Gilder, Port Townsend School of the Arts, Julie Read, San Juan Commons, Andrew Sheldon, Kim Simonelli, Haden Starbuck, Sandy Tweed, Marla Varner and Tony Porto.

The artists work in oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, woodworking, fabric art, glass and a variety of mixed media. They will open their studios for demonstrations and displays.

To view a map of studios, visit northwindarts.org/programs/art-port-townsend/studiotour-maps. Printed brochures with art studio listings and maps are available at the Northwind Arts Center, 701 Water St., and Port Angeles Visitor Center, 121 E. Railroad Ave.

The studio tour is the final event of the annual Art Port Townsend Festival.
