Saturday reception to open surface design exhibit

PORT TOWNSEND — Quilts, collages, art dolls and embroidery are among the 23 pieces in a two-month Surface Design Association exhibit opening Saturday at the Mead Werks at Wilderbee Farm.

A reception from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. is planned at the farm at 223 Cook Ave. Extension.

Organized by the North Olympic chapter of the Surface Design Association, the exhibit includes the work of 21 artists from Port Angeles, Sequim, Port Townsend and Bainbridge Island.

Among the techniques illustrated in the exhibit are several forms of dyeing, weaving, felting and fabric manipulation.

Several pieces in the exhibit are available for purchase.

The show, which closes Oct. 13, can be visited during Mead Werks hours from noon to 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

• Port Angeles: Barbara Houshmand and Diane Williams.

• Sequim: Linda Carlson, Kathie Cook, Liisa Fagerlund and Marla Varner.

• Port Townsend: Rosemary Burris, Leslie A. Dickinson, Caryl Bryer Fallert-Gentry, Sue Gale, Rachel Gaspers, Pat Herkal, Annie Karl, Kindy Kemp, Cheri Kopp, Donna Lark, Debra Olson, Barbara Ramsey and Cathie Wier.

• Bainbridge Island: Donna Lee Dowdney.
