Sequim kicks off summer concert series Tuesday

SEQUIM — From country and rock to bluegrass, big band and even a bit of Caribbean music, Sequim will launch its 2018 Music in the Park concert series Tuesday evening.

The free series, held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through late August at the James Center for the Performing Arts at Carrie Blake Community Park, 500 N. Blake Ave., invites locals to enjoy some entertainment from local and regional groups.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket and a picnic to the outdoor venue.

This year’s lineup features a number of groups that highlighted last year’s summer series, including local favorite Stardust Big Band, Craig Buhler Quartet, Blue Rhinos and the community’s own Sequim City Band.

Local businesses have joined in helping host the series.

Summer concert sponsors are still needed. Those interested in sponsoring are asked to contact Assistant to the City Manager Charisse Deschenes at 360-681-3432 or cdeschenes@sequimwa.gov.

The city has set the following concert schedule:

• June 26 — Blue Rhinos, blues-dance

• July 3 — Old Sidekicks, country and bluegrass

• July 10 — Craig Buhler Quartet, smooth jazz

• July 17 — Locos Only, blues, country and rock
