SEQUIM — A yellow-themed art walk is set for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at various venues in downtown Sequim.

Special events in August include:
• The Sequim Museum and Arts, 544 N. Sequim Ave., will feature “Capturing Stories with Thread,” an exhibit by the Peninsula Art Quilters in the Judith McInnes Tozzer Art Gallery.
The quilters are a subgroup of the Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Club of the Olympic Peninsula.
Exhibiting artists include Norma Herbold, Beverly Beighle, Marianne Nolte, Anne Davies, Gladis Marr, Marca Davies, Mary-Lou Giacomelli, Prabha Werner, Barbara Johnson, Carol Geer, Helga Barton and Jane Kirby.
• Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St., will feature “What a Wonderful World,” an exhibit of pottery by Janet Piccola and paintings by Jolene Sanborn.
The friends share a love of travel and experiencing the world.
Piccola has been using a technique called Sgraffito, which involves applying a layer of colored glaze, then scoring it to reveal the color of the base layer.
Sanborn draws from her experiences in nature to create her paintings.
• The A. Milligan Art Studio and Gallery, 520 N. Sequim Ave., will host the “Plein Air Inspirations” exhibit featuring the work of Jinx Bryant, Joyce Hester, Marian Morris and Roger Morris.
The artworks in the show range from pieces painted entirely on site, to works that were begun outside and finished in the studio, to pieces painted solely in the studio yet inspired by the experiences of the artist’s plein air sessions.
Vistors also may peek into Anne Milligan’s Pastel Studio to see her works in progress as well as some of her finished pieces.
• Forage Gifts & Northwest Treasures, 121 W. Washington St., will host Diane Fatzinger of Sticks ‘n Stones Design.
Fatzinger creates stories as stone shadow boxes.
• Pacific Mist Books, 122 W. Washington St., will host Darcy Guyant, a retired Coast Guard helicopter pilot and award-winning author of children’s books.
Guyant, who was stationed at the air station on Ediz Hook for eight years, writes children’s books about USCG rescue missions that are based on his real-life experiences.
• Sequim’s City Arts Advisory Commission will host a reception for “To Feel, Focus on Texture” from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Karen Kuznek-Reese Gallery at the civic center at 152 W. Cedar St.
The commission will host the First Friday Open Music Jam at the same time.
Those who attend are invited to bring an acoustic instrument and join the informal gathering of people making music.
• Sofie’s Flowers, 127 W. Washington St., will showcase its floral designer throughout the evening.
• Rainshadow Café, 157 W. Cedar St., will host live music by Dawn and Steve from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
• The Habitat Boutique Store, 213 E. Washington St., has live music by Reckless Dove from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
• Sequim Spice and Tea, 139 W. Washington St., has unique art, including glass, pottery, illustration and local artists’ photography. You can also find creative tea blends, colorful teapots and cups and culinary gifts.
• Soup in the Alley, 138 W. Washington St., features a rotation of local artists, live music and treats.
• Alder Wood Bistro, 139 W. Alder St., serves artisan wood-fired local, seasonal, organic food.
• The Cedarbrook Lavender Gift Shop, 120 W. Washington St., has farm-fresh lavender creations, treats and vintage décor items.
• The River House Bakery and Cafe, 120 W. Bell St., hosts local artists with delicious food and bakery items.
• Pacific Pantry, 229 S. Sequim Ave., is open until 7 p.m. with a rotation of local artists.
• Wild Goddess Brews-n-Bites, 145 E. Washington St., Suite D, has small bites, salads, dips and boards with a wide selection of beverages and live music.
• La Petite Maison Blanche, 213 E. Washington St., features uniquely curated gifts and festive treats throughout the shop and live music with Kate Lily.
