Stage productions highlight weekend events

Stage productions, bands and art shows will be on the Peninsula this weekend.

• “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” a Ghostlight production, will finish its run with shows at 7 p.m. tonight and Saturday and a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The production will be onstage in the auditorium at Sequim High School, 601 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim.

Tickets range from $10 to $20 per person at www.ghostlightwa.org.

The musical, written by Stephen Sondheim, tells the story of Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19th century London to get revenge on the judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife.

• Saltfire Theatre will stage its sixth production, “An Empty Plate in the Cafe du Grand Boeuf,” with shows at 7:30 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 24 at Vintage, 725 Water St. in Port Townsend.

The play, written by Michael Hillinger, is a dark comedy set in Paris during the early 1960s.

• The Ludlow Village Players will stage a production of the short version of “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Bay Club, 121 Spinnaker Way, Port Ludlow.

Tickets are available for $20 at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/6458940 or at the door.

The play is based on the short story by Philip Van Doren Stern and was adapted from the 1946 Frank Capra film, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” by Joe Landry.

Landry’s adaptation captures the essence of the original film while adding a twist reminiscent of old-time radio broadcasts.

Proceeds will benefit the Players’ scholarship fund.

The band has been at the Lantern for the past two weeks on an artistic retreat.

Lotion, a Quilcene-based band, will open the show, and DJ E ROK will spin heavy metal and hardcore vinyl.
