Students urged to audition for Jungle Book play

SEQUIM — Auditions will be conducted for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of The Jungle Book on Monday.

Auditions will be from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Sequim High School cafeteria at 503 N. Sequim Ave.

Those auditioning are asked to arrive at 3:30 p.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.

All K-12 students are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Assistant directors also will be cast to assist with the technical aspects of the production.

The Jungle Book will be presented on April 15 at the Sequim High School auditorium.

Among the roles to be cast are Mowgli (the man-cub), Bagheera (the panther) and Akela (the leader of the pack), the entire wolf pack, Shere Khan (the tiger) with his sidekick Tabaqui (the jackal), Nag and Nagaina (the cobras), Darzee (the bird), Hathi (the master elephant), Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (the mongoose), Kaa (the rock python), Buck (a buck) and the Bander-log.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup.

MCT Tour actors/directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. each day.
