Tickets on sale for annual Squatchcon event

PORT ANGELES — Tickets are on sale for the fourth Squatchcon Comic and Arts Convention set for April 10-13 in Port Angeles.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for teens until Christmas and are available at www.squatchconpa.com.

After Christmas, prices will go up to $2o for adults and $12 for kids; admission at the door will be $25 and $15.

Tables for artisans, illustrators, comic creators and other vendors are available for $150 each or $75 for a half-table.

The annual festival celebrates art, pop culture and local legends and attracts artists, fans, cosplayers and comic enthusiasts.

This year the convention is sponsoring a #DrawDarrell student art contest.

Local artists may submit an original sketch of Darrell, the Squatchcon mascot, for a chance to win a $500 scholarship and a spot in Squatchcon’s student vendor program.

The second-place artist will win a $100 scholarship and a free vendor space at the convention.

Entries should be emailed to info@squatchconpa.com by Oct. 18. Winners will be selected by voting on social media during the week of Oct. 21-25 and announced Oct. 28.

“The student artist program is the heart of Squatchcon,” said Jess Grello, Squatchcon organizer. “We want to give young artists the chance to shine and the tools to take the next step in their creative careers. It’s about fostering the next generation of artists and entrepreneurs in our community.”
