PORT ANGELES — Tickets are on sale for the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society’s Meowgaritas and Mutts gala, which is set for May 4.
The annual fundraiser is at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St.
Tickets, which cost $75 per person and include dinner and a drink, have been kept the same as the canceled 2020 gala. The gala was last conducted in September 2022 after a two-year pandemic-induced hiatus.
“We have always had our festive, Mexican-themed Meowgaritas and Mutts event at the end of April or beginning of May to coincide with Cinco de Mayo,” said Luanne Hinkle, the society’s recently retired executive director. “The Board of Directors voted to skip a September of 2023 event to get back to the regular schedule.”
Meowgaritas and Mutts, the society’s main fundraiser, features a live auction for experiences including a three-day New York City getaway with VIP seating for the Macy’s Day Parade, an Alaskan fishing lodge with private guided tours, an in-home chef dinner for six and a vacation in Hawaii.
There also will be a silent auction for more than 80 gift baskets.
“Not only does this event help support the abandoned, abused or ill animals in our care, it is an opportunity for me to meet and greet this wonderful community who dearly love their animals,” said Jason Stipp, the society’s new executive director.
The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society cares for domestic animals of all types regardless of breed, health or disposition and operates no-kill shelters for dogs and cats. On average, 1,200 animals pass through its facilities each year
