PORT TOWNSEND — The Tony Furtado Trio will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The concert is in the Palindrome at Eaglemount Cidery, 1893 S. Jacob Miller Road in Port Townsend.
Tickets are $25 per person online at www.ticketstorm.com/e/29363/t or $30, cash or check, at the door.
The trio consists of Tony Furtado on vocals, banjo, cello-banjo, slide guitar and baritone ukulele; Luke Price, five-time grand national fiddle champion; and Simon Chrisman on hammered dulcimer and bass.
Furtado, a singer-songwriter who won the 1987 National Bluegrass Banjo Championship, has collaborated with such musicians as Alison Krauss, Jerry Douglas, Tim O’Brien, Stuart Duncan, Kelly Joe Phelps and Mike Marshall.
Furtado has toured with Gregg Allman and with slide guitarists David Lindley, Derek Trucks and Sonny Landreth.
“I love playing live,” Furtado said. “All my energy is focused on the love of playing music and rolling with the moment. It’s a give and take from the audience to the stage and back, and the music that is created is something that otherwise might not occur without that flow.”
Furtado also performed with the band SugarBeat and on the Rounder Banjo Extravaganza with Tony Trischka and Tom Adams.
