These days, there is so much ugliness in the world, our country, our state and even in Clallam County.
It seems like very few have trust in the government to do the right thing, and in some cases, that is an accurate assumption.
However, there are a lot of hardworking government employees and elected officials at every level of government who are committed to serving the public and the greater good.
Clallam County Sheriff Bill Benedict is one of the good guys.
Not only is he a dedicated and accomplished sheriff for our county, but also for leading the chain gang crew to help pick up roadside trash, clear brush and work to eliminate invasive plants.
The service the chain gang provides saves money, cleans up our environment and makes most of us feel like our tax dollars are being put to good use.
My hat is off to Sheriff Benedict and his crew for picking up almost 83,000 pounds of trash along our roadways and illegal dumpsites during the first four months of 2017.
