LETTER: Business, personal experience make McComas most qualified for Jefferson hospital board

Bruce McComas has spent years at Jefferson Healthcare as a patient advocate, caregiver and volunteer.

He says he is in favor of single-payer health care and is absolutely committed to affordable and accessible health care for all, according to news reports.

This can be accomplished in many different ways, but unfortunately, it is not a task that can be taken on at the local level, and Bruce understands that.

Bruce is an educated and experienced businessman, and even more, he is someone who has worked his way through the medical system on behalf of his wife, who died of cancer last year.

He understands the current health care system and its deficits and is committed to making it work more effectively and efficiently.

Jefferson Healthcare is designated a critical access hospital, which is a designation given to certain rural hospitals to reduce their financial vulnerability and to improve access to health care.

Critical access hospitals are indeed on the line, and that is why the Jefferson hospital commission needs Bruce to keep the focus on the right issues: those that will allow the hospital to remain financially viable and to welcome all patients regardless of their financial status.

Bruce McComas is the most qualified candidate.

I encourage all citizens to vote for Bruce McComas.

Kathy Constantine,
