It’s so neat to see these World War II-era aircraft back in Port Angeles for the Wings of Freedom Tour on June 21-23, but for three days — instead of a weekend when people are off work — is too bad.
However, I shuttled back and forth when I was in Korea in the late 1940s, and it was a big thrill for me to fly in all the aircraft that will be here.
They were noisy and rattled a lot, but it was fun.
I hoped to see them come and fly over my house (weather permitting) from my front porch Wednesday.
The cost to go up in one is out of my category.
So, to those who flew them during the war: God bless you, and God bless America.
